MasterClass has been transitioning from a completely monolithic architecture to running multiple services across various environments. One of the many tools used in this endeavor is Argo CD, along with the GitOps paradigm. MasterClass quickly found the need to preview environments while working with Argo CD and GitOps, and recently deployed preview apps for its developers using ArgoCD ApplicationSets to create a production-like preview environment for collaboration between developers and product managers. The ArgoCD pull request generator provides a lot of value out of the box, but we quickly realized that we needed to integrate other technologies in order to provide a repeatable, consistent, and self-healing application experience to the organization. Come and learn how we used kustomize features to seed context into application configuration, external-dns to generate custom domain names, and all of the things we didn’t think initially think about that broke our deployments.
